How Do I Get One of These?

So how do you like this concept? Are you ready to tighten the screws in your life? I challenge you to take the journey of accountability with me! I don’t just want you to create an accountability blog, I want you to realize the you CAN change your life and see success you have dismissed as unachieveable in the past. Where does success come from? Think of the people that travel in your circle…. is there one that has lived a “Charmed Life”? In the rarest of situations that may ring true, however most often success comes from a series of daily ”success choices”. Believing that success “happens” to people is a victim mindset, a mindset that will hold you back your entire life. So here is the bottom line…..success is choice!

If success is a choice why aren’t more people successful? This is my theory on why success is escapes most of us. People have over complicated success! It has escaped so many for so long we look for some magical strategy, system, or late night infomercial to give us our success. If I don’t wrap a “silver bullet” in a neon and glittered package then have it introduced  by a TV personality with a “Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!” theme we don’t give it merit. The truth again is success is common sense and we have been conditioned to think otherwise. If I told you starting your morning by reading a great book for an hour and sending out 15 handwritten notes every day to those that you have an interaction with would give you success beyond your wildest dreams you would dismiss that as far to simple, however because of a few testimonials I have you would give it a try. Let me show you what that would look like…….

Day 1 – Success Choice to read a book by John Maxwell for an hour and send out 15 handwritten notes!
Day 2 – Success Choice to read a book by John Maxwell for an hour and send out 15 handwritten notes!
Day 15 – Unsuccessful Choice to skip the book….. and send 3 notes…..
Day 30 – DUE TO A LACK OF FORTUNE AND SUCCESS BEYOND YOUR WILDEST DREAMS AFTER 3O DAYS YOU QUIT BECAUSE CLEARLY THIS SYSTEM DOESN’T WORK!!!

True success comes on “day 31″ a metaphor for that point where you are faced with a “Success Choice”. You have been on a plan of diet and exercise for 30 days, you pop on that scale and much to your surprise you gained 2 pounds. What do you do? Are you going to argue that diet and exercise don’t work? It sounds silly, but most of us do! We instantly dismiss the “system” before we examine our application of it. How hard did we work out? What did we really eat? So do we have faith in our process, tweak our process or quit? My point is that “Success Choices” are easily made for a week, 2 weeks even 12 weeks, but every single day for a lifetime is overwhelming even for the simplest of processes. Brett Boettge’s Accountability Blog was designed as a tool to help me make the right choice on a daily basis for the rest of my life. The goal is to show the world how simple success truly is. So where do you start?

IDENTIFY YOUR BIG ROCKS (Different for Everyone but the following is a great place to start)

  • MINDSET – 1 hour per day reading a great book of inspiration
  • EDUCATION – 1 hour per day sharpening your skill set in your chosen field (articles, scripts, role play, dialogue)
  • IDENTIFY ACTIVITIES – Identify what daily activities have the greatest benefit to your day (your 20%) for examply if your Accountability Blog is for losing weight, identify specifically what your daily workout routine is as well as your dietary menu. If you are looking to increase your sales career this is LEAD GENERATION!
  • REPORT – Figure out your method of reporting to ensure that you do the things you do! For example “I read page 32-104 of Leadership Gold” is not as great of a reporting activity as “These are the Aha’s I had from page 32-104 of Leadership Gold”.
  • CREATE A SUPPORT TEAM – Ask your peers, clients, family, friends and everyone you respect to keep an eye on your blog, hold you accountable to activities and create a reward system for THEM with results. For example when a you hit a goal…. your sister get’s a Gift Card to her favorite restaurant.
  • FOCUS on ACTIVITIES NOT RESULTS – Results follow the activities and factors outside of your control can hamper your results. Also it may take time for your skill set to increase to the achieve the desired results. HAVE FAITH YOUR ACTIVITY IS IDENTIFIED PROPERLY WILL YIELD RESULTS!

Remember that success is a focus on activities, accountability to those activities and a constant faith in the process! It is that simple and don’t doubt that for a second! “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out!” IT IS YOUR CHOICE!

So go to www.wordpress.com and start your accountability blog today! Send the link to TheNextLevel@kw.com and know that I will be watching! It is simple not easy!

Sincerely,

Brett Boettge
